In recent years, good news has become extremely rare around the team Williams. The team fell sharply in the hierarchy in 2018, before a real “annus horribilis” last year: a car very late, absent from the first winter tests and finally very far from the score, to the point of being unable to leave the bottom of the pack. We were far from the Williams team which, in its time, had been able to string together the world titles like pearls in the mid-90s.
The announcement made on Friday took on an air of relief. Williams had launched a strategic process to overhaul his finances at the end of May and announced the color: his quest for investors could result in a partial or full sale of the team. The latter option was chosen, with Dorilton Capital taking full control of Williams Racing. Thus began a new era for the team, while another ended for F1.
