After being called by Jokowi, the Minister of Manpower immediately revises the JHT Rules

The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah, stated that he would revise the implementing regulations for the Old Age Security program (JHT). Currently, the implementation of the JHT is regulated through the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenaker) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits.

“Earlier, I and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy met with the President. In response to our report, the President gave directions so that the regulations related to JHT could be simplified,” said Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah through a press release from the Ministry of Manpower’s Public Relations Bureau, Monday (21/2/2022).

The Minister of Manpower explained that after Permenaker No. 2 of 2022 is socialized, the government understands the objections that arise from the workers/laborers. Therefore, the President gave directions and instructions to simplify the rules regarding JHT. So that the existence of JHT can be useful to help affected workers/laborers, especially those who have been laid off during this pandemic.

“Mr. President is very concerned about the fate of the workers/laborers, and asks all of us to mitigate and help fellow workers/laborers who are affected by this pandemic,” he explained.

The Minister of Manpower, Ida, added that in his directive, President Jokowi also hoped that with a simpler procedure for claiming JHT, it could support the creation of a conducive employment climate.

“Mr. President also asked all of us, including the government, businessmen, and fellow workers/labourers, to jointly create a conducive employment climate, so as to encourage national competitiveness,” he said.
