Butusov on November 27, the Day of Remembrance of Holodomor Victims, posted a video on Facebook, on which he made a shot from an artillery gun. Later, he clarified that the video “was filmed a very long time ago, during the training of territorial defense units of one of the regions of Ukraine … in strict accordance with the existing conventions and prohibitions.”
On November 28, the RRB announced that they would check the legality of Butusov’s actions on the published video. According to law enforcement officers, the publication of such materials “damages the information security of the state and allows representatives of the aggressor state to increase pressure on Ukraine.”
Investigators opened proceedings under Art. 414 (violation of the rules for handling weapons, as well as with substances and objects that pose an increased danger to others) and Art. 437 (planning, preparation, unleashing and conducting an aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
After reactions of famous people on social networks the RRB clarified that did not open criminal proceedings against Butusov… The department noted that “the subject of the investigation is to establish the circumstances of who and under what conditions allowed a civilian to be armed.”
