After Astroworld disaster: Travis Scott presents “healing” project

After Astroworld disaster
Travis Scott unveils ‘healing’ project

In November, a Travis Scott performance causes a stampede that kills ten people. Now the US rapper is speaking again for the first time. He presents a new project with which he wants to do his part for healing.

Travis Scott has spoken out for the first time in months. On Tuesday, the 30-year-old rapper and boyfriend of Kylie Jenner announced a new project called HEAL on Instagram.

“Over the past few months, I’ve taken the time and space to grieve, reflect, and do my part to heal my community,” Scott said in his new post regarding November’s Astroworld disaster. At the festival in Houston, Texas, there was a mass panic during a performance by the rapper, who himself is one of the initiators of the event. Ten people died and hundreds more were injured, some seriously.

Now he wants to use his resources and his platform to bring about change. “This will be a lifetime journey for me and my family.”

“Technology-driven solution for security”

The victims of the Astroworld tragedy will forever remain in his heart, Scott said. “My team and I created Project HEAL to take much-needed action to support real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can be.”

The project is “a multi-stage initiative dedicated to addressing the challenges” faced by youth “from marginalized and vulnerable communities”. This includes academic scholarships, free mental health programs, a creative design center and the “first-ever technology-driven event security solution,” according to Scott.

On the website there is more information about the project. A million dollars goes to “Black Colleges” for student scholarships. The Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund aims to support students with financial problems. Waymon Webster was Scott’s grandfather, who was himself an educator, and is said to have had a great influence on Scott. According to consistent media reports, a total of five million dollars are to flow into the project.
