After 150 days of inactivity, the gyms in Córdoba reopen

Next Tuesday and after more than 150 days without activity, the gyms will reopen in Córdoba.

It will be a pilot test that will last 14 days as established by the Emergency Operations Center (COE). During this period, the epidemiological impact of this new opening will be measured.

This Thursday the provincial authorities met with the members of the Córdoba Gymnasium Chamber where they agreed on the last details of the security protocol and the date of the reopening for these businesses, one of the last to be authorized.

Minutes earlier, the Minister of Health of the Province, Diego Cardozo, had anticipated during the presentation of the epidemiological report that the physical activity centers would return to work next week.

“This gives us a light of hope, oxygen to be able to work in this activity. You have to show the whole of society that gyms are reliable and safe. We want to do things well so that we can work on physical activity ”said Carlos Peger, vice president of the chamber after the meeting at the COE headquarters.

For two weeks in the more than 1,300 gyms in the province, according to what the protocol establishes, bodybuilding, stretching, yoga and Pilates activities will be allowed on mats (not on a machine). Every hour the place should be disinfected.

“We will work with low intensity anaerobic exercises (no crosfit or zumba), one person every 12 square meters, 45-minute shifts and use of a mandatory mask. Furthermore, exercise circuits will not be allowed ”, said Peger, mentioning the main points of the security protocol.

The opening hours will be from 7 to 23 hours.

From the sector they estimate that due to a reduction in the capacity of the premises and also due to the economic situation, enrollment will be affected by 30 percent. They are also studying increasing fees.

On the other hand, the opening of the physical activity centers generated expectation in the Cordovan Chamber of Swimming pools. They await a meeting with the COE in the next few days to advance their qualification
