After 11 years, the Uncharted movie has finally started filming

After a lot if and but, the long-awaited Uncharted movie has finally started filming. The protagonist himself, Tom Holland, could reveal this in one Instagram post Wednesday. Here he shared a picture of a chair back with the writing “Nate” and the text “Day One #uncharted” next to it.

Posten indicates that the filming of the upcoming big movie began in earnest on Wednesday, and that it will then finally be something of the much talked about feature film.

The rumor goes

The Uncharted film was initially announced back in 2009 and has since seen a number of revisions and replacements. Along the way, everything from Nathan Fillion to Chris Pratt has been involved in the rumors surrounding who will play the male lead role Nathan Drake, before Sony finally fell for Spider-Man actor Tom Holland in 2017.

Since then, the film has slowly but surely built up momentum, among other things by securing Venom director Ruben Fleischer, Antonio Banderas and Mark Wahlberg in the role of Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

The film will deal with the adventures of a slightly younger Nathan Drake, and will reportedly be inspired by the flashbacks where Nathan meets Sully for the first time in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

The film premieres on July 16, 2021.
