Guinea music legend Mory Kante is dead. The singer known for his hit “Yeke yeke” died on Friday, May 22, after a long illness in Guinea’s capital Conakry at the age of 70, as his son Balla Kante told the AFP.
In the 80s, Kante had contributed to popularizing African music worldwide and was heard several times at Austrian festivals.
