  • A host of former footballers in Africa are calling on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to recognize an incredible achievement by Zambian icon Godfrey Chitalu, better known as Ucar.
  • Lionel Messi currently holds the record for the most goals in a calendar year (91 goals in 2012) but the Zambian Football Association (FAZ) has tried in the past to change that.
  • Former Chipolopolo striker Chitalu is said to have scored an astonishing 107 goals in 1972. He was playing for the Kabwe Warriors at the time, with the FAZ claiming the number could also be 116 (nine goals reportedly not counted).
  • This is a strong claim, but when it is true, history is literally being rewritten!
