Africa :: Brics Plead For African Sovereignty Over Its Raw Materials

The representative of the BRICS alliance in Africa (Central and West) left the international summit on African economies organized in Spain by the Euro-African International Forum with the Ubuntu Prize, rewarding his leadership in Africa and in the world, after having shared his unique vision on sovereignty over raw materials improperly exported from the continent.

Ahoua Don Mello once again spoke of sovereignty, this time in Spain where he stayed on November 24 and 25 to take part in the international Euro-African forum held in Andalusia on African economies. Invited to receive the Ubuntu prize (humanity in Rwandan language) which rewards his leadership on social progress and the end of inequalities in the world, the head of the BRICS Alliance in Central and West Africa then spoke to present his vision of the economic sovereignty of African states, theorizing, on the one hand, the killing of the colonial pact and, on the other hand, the ban on the sale of African raw materials in their raw state.

Certainly, the question of the transformation of African raw materials is not entirely new and has always been raised in intellectual circles and other circles of protesters but also, more and more now, by politicians to better hide, in reality, their helplessness. However, the analysis of the former director general of BNETD has the advantage of being both coherent and practical. Because for him, the formal ban on exporting the riches of Africa’s subsoil will force Westerners to transform them on site and get paid. This will help industrialize the African economy, create jobs and, consequently, discourage illegal immigration.

A “win-win deal”

Westerners would no longer have to complain about the migratory waves attacking their coasts and would thus see themselves relieved of the political and economic constraints linked to this situation. This is a “win-win” deal, said Don Mello.

But to make the sale of raw materials illegal, African leaders must denounce the numerous unfair agreements which structure Françafrique. Africa must also opt for democracy, so that the decisions taken by States reflect the position of their people. Ahoua Don Mello also advocated for the change of the presidential regime, too often presidentialist in Africa, to a parliamentary regime because it allows the people to express themselves on each decisive event in national life which requires their arbitration.

The BRICS representative in Central and West Africa is convinced that Africa can become a continent of prosperity faster than its own populations believe. But to get there, we must succeed in neutralizing the colonial pact which exploits corruption and makes debt a trap. The Ivorian debt is estimated at 23,000 billion and the debt service which amounted to 1,602.4 billion in 2022 constitutes another obstacle which jeopardizes the future of this nation.
