A series of explosions in a market in southern Afghanistan killed at least 23 people on Monday, the authorities said. 15 other people were injured, the provincial governor’s office and the Afghan army said in separate statements.
The explosions were triggered by a car bomb and rockets and hit a market in the Sangin district in Helmand province. They occurred shortly before peace talks started between the Afghan government and the radical Islamic Taliban. (apa, afp)
