AFF Cup 2020 Results: Beat Malaysia 3-0, Vietnam Pepet Indonesia National Team at the Top of the Standings: Okezone Bola

BISHAN – National team (National Team) Vietnam managed to finish off Malaysia 3-0 in the continued match of Group B AFF Cup 2020 on Sunday (12/12/2021) evening WIB. Vietnam’s two goals occurred in the first half, precisely in the 32nd minute through the action of Nguyen Quang Hai, then in the 36th minute thanks to contributions from Nguyem Cong Phuong, and finally given by Nguyen Hoang Duc at the end of the match.

With three points from Malaysia, Vietnam automatically rose to the second place in the AFF Cup 2020 Group B standings. Vietnam was tight on the Indonesian national team, which had just felt the chill of first place after winning 5-1 against Laos.

The course of the match

First round

The Gold Star Warriors team dominated in the first half. They are comfortable on the ball and build fast attacks from the back and put pressure up front.

The scheme runs up to 20′ minutes. The Malayan tigers were forced to defend deeper and only hope for a counterattack. In fact, they arrived at the half-field brackets.

Interestingly, the defense of Tan Cheng Hoe’s team managed to appear solid. They managed to defend well and withstand all the onslaught of the opponent until the 30′ minute.

Unfortunately, they had to concede two minutes later. Vietnam continued to target the left side of the Malaysian defense and finally paid off with a hard kick by Nguyen Quang Hai in the 32′ minute after using Nguyen Tuan Anh’s cross.

After winning, the game of the Gold Star Warriors got even more crazier. Short foot-to-foot passes that rarely go wrong are a big threat.

As a result the second goal was created not long after that. Nguyen Cong Phuong doubled the lead in the 36th minute after using Quang Hai’s through ball. The goal at the same time closed the halftime break with a score of 2-0.

Second round

You could say, the duel in the second half for 45 minutes was less exciting. Both teams played at a low tempo, unlike in the first half.

The dominance was again shown by Vietnam. However, the pressure given is not as big as in the first half. High pressing and fast movement without the ball are also rarely seen.

Malaysia is finally able to come out attacking like never before. And again, the effort was difficult because the high pressing and density of the opponent’s defense meant that their efforts were denied in a third of the field.

Interestingly, Vietnam loosened the tempo when entering the 70′ minute. This decision made Malaysia more comfortable holding the ball even though the attack that was built had not found a direction.

On the other hand, now Vietnam often launches counterattacks. But once they got their chance they looked dangerous because of their unstoppable pace.

Their hopes of catching up were dashed. Vietnam again scored the third goal at the same time ensuring a 3-0 victory in the 90′ minute through the feet of Nguyen Hoang Duc.
