AfD candidate for the state parliament comes from Ulm – Freiburg

In the constituency of Freiburg I, Daniel Rottmann from Ulm will run for the AfD in the state elections on March 14, 2021. According to the party, he was elected last Saturday. The assembly meeting took place in Titisee-Neustadt, the exact voting result was not announced by the party.

The 51-year-old Rottmann is already a member of the state parliament for the constituency of Ehingen, where he received 15.9 percent of the vote in 2016. In the nomination there for the upcoming election, however, he was no longer considered last week. Rottmann belongs to the moderate AfD camp around federal chairman Jörg Meuthen, he was ousted by a local politician close to the disbanded wing. In Titisee-Neustadt he in turn prevailed against Karl Schwarz from the camp around the Freiburg city councilor Dubravko Mandic.

Rottmann grew up in Freudenstadt, studied theology and worked as a branch manager in the book trade and most recently as a salesman in the food retail trade. Before joining the AfD, he was a member of the Christian faithful party. In the state parliament he worked in the interior and petitions committee. Werner Schneider was the replacement candidate for Rottmann.

The constituency Freiburg I includes Freiburg districts, especially in the east, as well as communities in the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Waldshut.
