FC Barcelona has found a buyer for substitute goalkeeper Neto (33). The Brazilian is drawn to AFC Bournemouth, where he has signed a contract for the current season. That’s what the English reported on Sunday. Although his contract with the Blaugrana would have been valid until 2023, he is moving on a free transfer. The goalkeeper says goodbye to Barça, three years after his €26m move from Valencia in 2019, who have not paid for a goalkeeper transfer in the club’s history. Back then, Jasper Cillessen (33) went to the Blanquinegros for €35m in return, which had a positive impact on both clubs’ balance sheets.

Despite the Catalans handing over so much money for Neto, he never got past regular Marc-André ter Stegen (30). Neto made 21 appearances for the Catalans in which he kept seven clean sheets. He was between the posts in four games last season. “It’s very gratifying that we were able to sign a player of Netos’ caliber. This is a real coup for the club and we are delighted that they have chosen us. He has a lot of experience at the highest level and I’m sure he will be a great asset to us,” said Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake. Neto is the fourth newcomer to the “Cherries” this summer.
