The “Biennale for Current Photography”, perhaps the most important contemporary photography exhibition of the year, will take place until April 26, 2020 in six venues in Mannheim, Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen.
The “Port25 – Room for Contemporary Art, Mannheim” deals with commissioned work from advertising photography. What is exciting is what photo artists make of it and how they reconcile it with their understanding of photo art.
Works by Hein Gorny, Scheltens & Abbenes, Bryan Schutmaat, Daniel Stier, Christopher Williams, Thomas Wunsch are shown.
These houses take part in the Biennale
The participating exhibition houses of “Biennale for Current Photography” are the Heidelberger Kunstverein, the Kunsthalle Mannheim, the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen, Port25 – space for contemporary art, the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum and ZEPHYR – space for photography in the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums.
An extensive supporting program accompanies the exhibitions and promotes a lively exchange about photography.
