Adam Žampa today – giant slalom, 1st round (Alta Badia 2021, results)

Downhill Skiing World Cup – Alta Badia (Italy)

Men’s Giant Slalom Round 1:

ALTA BADIA. French skier Mathieu Faivre leads the World Cup giant slalom after Sunday’s 1st round.

In the Italian Alta Badia, the Swiss Marco Odermatt was only two hundredths of a second behind him, and the Austrian Manuel Feller was in third place (+0.19 s).

After the opening round, the Slovak national team member Adam Žampa is in 14th place with a gap of 1.07 s. His brother Andreas did not advance to the 2nd round when he was only one hundredth short of the last 30th place.

Faivre was the second to enter the track, right after Alex Gint Pinturault, the defender of the big globe.

He was faster from his compatriot in all the split times and none of the opponents removed him from the current leading position.

Closest to this was the winner of the first two seasonal “giants” Odermatt, who also handled the challenging upper passage with the gates closed.

He led in the first two split times, but lost a little at the bottom and finished just behind Faivrea.

However, the skiers also succeeded behind the two drawn groups, Feller rose to third place with the number 16, the fourth is the American River Radamus with 18 (+0.30 s).

Adam Žampa set off on the Gran Risa piste with start number 20. He showed a risky ride at the top, but at the same time he was able to go clean, which he used especially in the lower passage.

He caught a good rhythm in it and advanced to the 2nd round (13.00), in which he could also think of an attack on the elite ten. Adam Žampa loses only 36 hundredths in the Top 10.

The younger Andreas with the number 52 after the finish had the 30th place with a deficit of 2.03 s, but he was immediately pushed by a hundred by Sweden’s Mattias Rönngren out of the top 30.
