American actor Richard Belzer, who gained worldwide fame for his role in the TV series “Law and Order”, died at the age of 78 on Sunday, news agencies reported.
Actress Laraine Newman announced his death on her Twitter profile.

“I am so saddened by the news of Richard Belzer’s passingshe wrote.I loved this man so much. He was the first person I made friends with when I came to New York to do SNL (Saturday Night Live)… He was one of the funniest people in the world… Goodbye, dear“.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor died at his home in southwestern France, surrounded by his family. He had “multiple health problems“.
