The 52-year-old Flemish actor Jan VH, who played in various children’s programs, has to answer for rape of minors, assault, possession and distribution of child pornography in Antwerp court today. The ball started rolling last summer after an undercover report by Sven van der Meulen in collaboration with Het Laatste Nieuws and HLN.be.

The Flemish actor, known for his role in ‘Big & Betsy’, ‘Mega Mindy’, ‘Familie’ and ‘De Kotmadam’, spoke openly with our undercover reporter Sven van der Meulen last year about his sexual experiences with children and his fantasies. “I’ve already had a couple of 14-year-old boys. About five or six, I think. That was nice,” Jan VH said at the time.

The man said he met young boys online and lured them to his house, after which he had sex with them. Sometimes he also took pictures of the boys. According to the actor, his fame as an actor in children’s programs made it “perhaps easier” to meet victims.

“I actually like boys who have yet to hit puberty. 11 or 12 years, maybe even 10. Or children of 5 or 6, that’s also horny”, said Jan VH without hesitation. Our undercover journalist, who could film everything, said during the conversation that he could ‘arrange’ a 10-year-old boy in a hotel room in Antwerp. Of course, no child was present at all, but Jan VH did show up at the appointment, after which the journalist decided to transfer the information to the court.

The Antwerp court opened an investigation. Jan VH confesses that he has had sexual contacts with minors. Incriminating material was found on his computer and telephone that indicated “unauthorized contact with minors”. The court was able to identify four minors who were approached by Jan VH, but they did not report themselves as victims. They can still report to court today and still file a civil party.

Jan VH, who is assisted by lawyer Walter Damen, is on trial today in Antwerp. The public prosecutor is progressing four years with a postponement linked to probation conditions against the actor for various sex crimes.
