Activision Blizzard is being criticized from all angles right now. The company, pushed against the wall, decided to set up a special committee in its structures to repair everything that was wrong. And there would be nothing – no omen – wrong with that, if it weren’t for the fact that the committee appears to be an ordinary public relations stunt. Something politicians do to hide their sins.
A special division of employees was called the Workplace Responsibility Committee. You will participate in the introduction of new solutions and procedures to eliminate all forms of harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard. The new body was revealed due to a special press release. It will be overseen by two independent directors: Dawn Ostroff and Reveta Bowers.
The Committee may call on advisers and consultants outside the organization, including independent legal advisers and attorneys. All this so that its members could resolve controversial situations and employee reports without worry and with total independence. To show that Activision is truly committed to the changes, the company also announced that it will feature a minority person on its board of directors.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, all the changes seem to be purely a PR game. Activision executives are responding to something they have hidden over the years. It is not known if any member of the board of directors will suffer any consequences or if everything will be swept under the rug. Of course, we will be closely monitoring the situation, providing you with any new information.
