Accountant and Finance Inspector of Braga accused of corruption

Due to the impossibility of visits to hospitalized patients, due to the covid-19 pandemic, Braga Hospital has been betting “on strengthening the humanization of health care” provided.

In this sense, the hospital says in a press release, professionals from different services have, since the beginning of the pandemic, used digital media – including some equipment donated to the institution – to encourage and promote contact between patients and family members.

“This practice seeks, above all, to reassure states of greater sadness or anxiety felt, either on the part of the patients or on the part of their loved ones”, emphasizes the hospital, ensuring that the phone calls and video calls are carried out safeguarding the total fulfillment of the defined safety and hygiene measures, with extra care in cleaning and disinfecting the equipment used.

In addition, the health team regularly contacts the significant family member of the hospitalized patient, to inform them of their clinical condition, and it is also possible, whenever necessary, for direct contact by the family member with the service where the patient is hospitalized.

The Hospital de Braga reports on other measures of “assistance humanization”, such as the identification of the name and professional group in the gown or protective suit to establish a closer link between those who care and those who receive care.

Exceptional visits were also made possible, as in end-of-life situations.

These measures seek, on the one hand, to strengthen the proximity in the care relationship between patients and professionals, and, on the other hand, to reduce, albeit in a virtual way, the distance between patients and their families.

Portugal accounts for at least 1,465 deaths associated with covid-19 in 33,969 confirmed cases of infection, according to the latest daily bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released today.
