AC Milan’s Rising Star: Francesco Camarda’s Journey to the A-Team

As it usually happens in similar cases, the young Camardo was also helped by luck. Better said, the misfortune of his more experienced teammates. The attacking formation of AC cannot rely on Noah Okafor, who was injured during the performance of his representative duties in the Switzerland jersey. Seasoned striker Olivier Giroud will watch the match with Fiorentina only from the stands. The Frenchman, an unbelievable 22 years older than Camarda, received a red card in the previous league match against Lecce (2:2). The health status of Rafael Lea, who was replaced after ten minutes in the same match due to hamstring problems, is also uncertain.

The confluence of circumstances arranged for the first invitation to the A-team to fifteen-year-old rookie Camarda, who, although he had already trained with him several times, had not yet played in a competitive match. “He is very mature in terms of character and is ready to help us if needed. He has a great future ahead of him,” Pioli praised the youngster.

Why is the 58-year-old coach so confident? The Football Talent Scout portal, which focuses on emerging football stars in detail, may indicate the answer. According to him, Camarda has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world, as the list of his strengths is seemingly endless. Finishing, shooting instinct, ball control, dribbling, heading, movement without the ball… Camarda more or less excels in all the mentioned aspects.

Of course, the transition to adult football has already killed off quite a few promising footballers, so nothing is guaranteed. But it is clear from the past that the Italian teenager has no problem measuring his strength against opponents who are several years older.

At the age of fourteen, he made his debut for the senior youth team of AC Milan, he currently plays for Primavera, i.e. a sort of junior Rossoneri team. And he’s not doing bad at all. He scored seven goals and two assists in thirteen games, drew attention to himself in the youth Champions League, where he helped to triumph 3:2 over PSG with a great scissor shot. At the same time, football players of the year 2005 mainly take part in the given competition.

Camarda made himself known more prominently for the first time when his statistics from the 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons were calculated. During three seasons, he scored a breathtaking 483 goals for opponents in 87 matches. “My role models are Ronaldo Fenomeno and Karim Benzema. I also admire Zlatan Ibrahimović, thanks to his winning mentality,” he revealed some time ago. So far, Camardo’s reputation is nowhere near that of the mentioned trio of fantastic strikers, but you have to admit it yourself. It has a relatively decent tread.
