ABN Amro loses Danish banking technician, fifth board member in a short time | Financial

In recent months, Daphne de Kluis (CEO of the SME division) and Rutger van Nouhuijs (head of investment bank) have already left ABN Amro of their own accord. They chose Achmea and Citigroup respectively. Due to a simplification of the top structure, the contracts of Pieter van Mierlo and Frans van der Horst as CEOs of the private bank and consumer division were recently not renewed. In February, chief financial officer, Clifford Abrahams, had already switched to the British Virgin Money.

The departure of Bornfeld is a sensitive loss for ABN Amro. The Dutch bank caused a stir in 2017 by snatching the Danish technician from the Scandinavian major bank Nordea. He played a crucial role at ABN Amro in improving computer systems and digital banking.

“Christian has played a key role in our efforts to future-proof our IT landscape and the way we work, and to strengthen bank-wide KYC systems and operations,” said CEO Robert Swaak on Friday.

At the end of last year, ABN Amro announced on an investor day that it wanted to further transform into a digital bank. “We want to implement the unique personal banking in the digital environment,” said Swaak in an interview with this newspaper.
