Venstre’s Abid Raja has mapped how many times APS city council leader in Oslo, Raymond Johansen, has criticized Prime Minister Støre and the government: At least ten times since Støre became prime minister. You can read all the examples in this case. He believes that this shows that Johansen does not trust Støre and that he is not “on the same team” with him. Show more

Venstre’s second deputy leader, profiled Abid Raja, has gone through the media to find out how many times Ap’s Oslo city council leader, Raymond Johansen, has criticized and challenged Støre and his own government in the public sphere.

– Just in the barely two years that the Støre government has been in power, Raymond has been out against his own government at least ten times. It shows that the political leader of the largest city in the country has no faith in his own prime minister and party leader. Raymond is not on a team with Støre, Raja believes.

– The Oslo city council leader is Norway’s master at criticizing his own government and Prime Minister Støre. Raymond goes at the throat of Støre and the government time and time again.

Here you can read about the ten cases:

– Disappointed

– Many of the cases revolve around Raymond asking Støre and the government to invest in Oslo and the big cities. He has time and time again been very disappointed with Støre because Støre does not stand up for the big cities, he continues.

Raja says that recently many people – also in Ap – have felt the need to keep their distance from Støre.

– Raymond is just one of them, but when he has so many times had to go public with demands and criticism of his own boss and government, it shows how little faith he has in his own government. It clearly shows that he does not want to be attached to Støre.

– All the moves can be interpreted as him trying to influence Ap’s policy, and cannot be interpreted as a lack of trust?

– At least they show that he has no impact. If you don’t have influence with the leader, you don’t have confidence in him either.

He adds:

– Raymond now has nothing to gain from being stuck to Støre, because he and his government are unpopular and mired in crises.

– Your criticism of Johansen can strengthen him in those parts of the electorate who like him, but who do not like Støre and the government?

– Every leader in the biggest cities benefits from having influence with the current government. So you would think that you have the most influence when the prime minister comes from your own party. But all the tricks and criticism from Raymond show that he has no influence with his own boss.

– Fantastic guy

Raja’s conclusion is not surprising:

– When we have a city council leader who does not have influence, then it is time to replace this city council.

– It is not likely that a civilian city council will have greater impact?

– Raymond is a fantastic guy, I like him as a person. But it is time for new forces to emerge in this city, which can wholeheartedly attack this government.

He also conveys some political content here:

Mine and the Liberal Party’s most important issues to take Oslo forward when the Liberal Party joins the city council:

Reduce the price of monthly cards to NOK 499 for adults and half price for students and young people. More money for Oslo School and ensure free choice of school. Leisure card to give children and young people the opportunity to participate in activities and cultural offerings. Better quality in care for the elderly. Stop the degradation of nature, take care of Marka and create a clean Oslofjord. Repeal the senseless ban on private kindergartens. – Are the Liberals so desperate in the run-up to the election campaign that you have to focus on other parties instead of talking about your own politics?

– I am a parliamentary representative from Akershus from the time I lived in Bærum, but I live in and have lived in Oslo for large parts of my life. I have almost never interfered in politics here in the city, but I care a lot about Oslo and Oslo politics. When I see that my town needs help, I speak up. Today’s situation is losing Oslo and all the other cities in this country. It’s a disaster.

Støre leaves it to Raymond Johansen to respond to the criticism. He makes it relatively short:

POINTS TO EXPERIENCE: Johansen asks Raja to look in the rear-view mirror. Photo: Eirik Røsvik / VG

– I think Abid, from his own experience, knows that my job is to speak for Oslo and the interests of the people of Oslo. I did that job when he was a minister, and I do that job now. Incidentally, I seem to remember that Abid at the time thought I was both unreasonable and that I was wrong, the times I stood up for Oslo when he was minister.
