ABBA will officially cease operations. “It’s over. It’s the time”

Team soon ABBA will make fans happy with one of the most anticipated albums in music history, “Voyage”. The album, which will be released on November 5, will contain ten new songs, including the already presented three singles promoting the album: “I Still Have Faith In You”, “Don’t Shut Me Down” and “Just a Notion”.

ABBA will officially cease operations. The musicians took the floor

The album is a great event, because nobody believed that the promises that the band would return after almost 40 years of break would turn out to be true. The previous album of the Swedish quartet, “Visitors”, was released in November 1981.

However, this is not the end of surprises. Together with the information about the new album, the band members also announced a series of unusual concerts, in which they will not perform in person, but in a digital version as specially prepared avatars, the so-called Abbatars. They were developed by the company Industrial Light & Magic, which creates advanced special effects for films, founded by the legendary director George Lucas.

The digital incarnations of the musicians will be accompanied by a live band of 10, and the concerts will take place in a specially built arena in London. The first one will take place on May 27, 2022.

The news about the new album and the concerts made fans talk about the beginning of a new chapter in ABBA’s career. Those who counted on more singles, albums and concerts, however, will be disappointed. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus in an interview for “The Guardian” firmly announced that “Voyage” is definitely their last album, and the band ABBA ends their career. “It’s over, it’s time,” Andersson said, adding that in 1982 they did not officially end their careers, but took a break.

ABBA. Information about the team. Why did they stop playing together?

ABBA is one of the most popular pop groups in history. The Swedish band founded in 1972 by Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog won the Eurovision Song Contest two years later with “Waterloo”. The greatest hits of ABBA include, among others “Dancing Queen” or “Take a Chance on Me”.

ABBA played together until 1982, when a hiatus was announced, from which unfortunately the band never returned. Two years earlier, the group played their last tour in Japan, and after it they recorded two more studio albums – “Super Trouper” with the megahit “The Winner Takes It All” and “The Visitors”.

All team members dedicated themselves to working on various projects. Agnetha and Frida recorded solo albums, and Björn and Benny started the musical “Chess”. They never once again stood on stage together, although rumors had surfaced repeatedly and the band was offered exorbitant sums for their return.
