It is an unusual evacuation that the firefighters of Brussels had to carry out on Tuesday. A worker was injured in a construction accident in Anderlecht. As a result of this, the man found himself stranded in a well about 2 meters deep. The firefighters were called and several means were implemented to rescue the victim.
Two ambulances, a command car, a self-pump, a self-ladder and an extrication truck were used. The RISC (Rescue In Safe Conditions) team of the Brussels firefighters also intervened.
The injured worker was immobilized in the auto-ladder stretcher. The latter was hoisted out of the well. Seriously injured, the worker was evacuated to Erasme hospital. The circumstances of the accident still need to be clarified, says Walter Derieuw.
