A tribute livery to the winning Porsche 935 in 1983 for AO Racing at Daytona

Entered in the GTD category with a Porsche 911 GT3 R, the AO Racing team will pay tribute to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona to the Porsche 935 Swap Shop which won the Florida classic in 1983 in the hands of Preston Henn, AJ Foyt, Bob Wollek and Claude Ballot-Lena.

The car that will wear the colors of Swap Shop Andial will be driven this weekend during the Roar before the Rolex 24 by PJ Hyett, Gunnar Jeannette, Sebastian Priaulx and Harry Tincknell. PJ Hyett and Sebastian Priaulx will share the wheel of the #80 Porsche for the entire season.

The original 1983 car is owned by AO Racing team co-owner/driver PJ Hyett, whose father, Gunnar Jeannette, Kevin, was team manager. The car was built by motorsport legend Alwin Springer, former president and now consultant for Porsche Motorsport North America.

“I literally grew up around the Porsche 935 Swap Shop, Preston Henn and Alwin Springer, said Gunnar Jeanette. The fact that PJ has acquired the car from the Henn family and that we can pay this tribute in our first 24 Hours with AO Racing and Porsche is very special. I hope all fans can enjoy the livery and experience the special story this car helped create in 1983.”

A photo session with the Porsche 911 GT3 R alongside the Porsche 935 is planned on the sidelines of the Roar before the Rolex 24.
