A 28-year-old man fell off the US cruise ship Carnival Valor and spent 15 hours in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico before being rescued by the Coast Guard, reported the New York Post. His absence has been noted by his sister.
They were drinking together in one of the ship’s bars on Wednesday evening. Around 11pm the man went to the bathroom and never came back.
For some reason, the relative of the missing person did not report her missing until noon the next day.
The vessel then returned to New Orleans and rescuers began searching the ocean for the man. He was found and taken aboard a Coast Guard helicopter off the Louisiana coast at 8:30 pm on Thursday, November 24.
Rescuers called it a miracle that the man survived. The victim was taken to a hospital in New Orleans. The man suffered from severe hypothermia, shock and dehydration, but doctors assessed his condition as stable.
