Ombretta Ravessoud conducted the Les Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad classical music festival for the 21st time as director – this time under very difficult conditions.

She has been the director of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad for 20 years. And now, at the 21st edition of the Winter Classical Festival, it almost failed for known reasons during a pandemic. But only almost.
Because the woman, who lives in Geneva and works tirelessly for art issues, fought to the end to be able to hold at least 5 of the 18 concerts in the festival. Even when the Federal Council announced on January 13th that the cultural events would remain idle, she did not give up.
When she heard the following day that streaming concerts with a maximum of five people were feasible with the consent of the church authorities in Bern, she picked up the thread. Together with Renaud Capuçon, the artistic director and other fighters at her side, she put together the top-class core program within a very short time in compliance with the strictest safety requirements.
