Tokyo Japan – A powerful earthquake shook on Thursday the north of Japan, although there were no reports of serious damage or injuries, no risk of tsunami was detected, according to authorities.
The Japanese meteorological agency gave a preliminary magnitude of 7 for the quake, recorded far from the northeast coast of the northern island of Hokkaido. The agency placed the epicenter 100 miles below the ocean surface and east of the island of Etorofu, controlled by Russia and claimed by Japan.
