Tokyo Japan – A powerful earthquake shook on Thursday the north of Japan, although there were no reports of serious damage or injuries, no risk of tsunami was detected, according to authorities.

NHK public broadcaster showed images of screens and shelves shaking in its Kushiro office on the southeast coast of Hokkaido.

Police in Hokkaido Prefecture said they had not received reports of damage or injuries. The quake was unlikely to cause injuries or damage due to its depth and distance from the coast, according to authorities.
