A total of nine people were injured after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake shook Manhuen County in northwestern China’s Qinghai province on Saturday, local authorities said. Radio China.
Eight of them have been discharged from hospital and one remains under medical supervision.
The quake affected a total of 5,831 people in the province, and 65 people from 16 households whose homes were damaged have been relocated to safety.
A total of 217 houses were severely damaged. Some roads, bridges and aqueducts have also been damaged to varying degrees.
More than 5,000 people and more than 1,100 vehicles were sent to help the victims.
As a result of the earthquake, part of the Great Wall of China, dating from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), collapsed. It is located in Shandan County, which is 114 kilometers from the epicenter in Manyuan.
