A snake bit a tourist in a hotel in Paphos: She spent 4 days in the intensive care unit – She moves with a wheelchair (Photo) – 2024-04-18 09:31:43

Sam West’s holiday from Shifnal, England, turned into a nightmare when she was in intensive care after being bitten by a viper while celebrating her 40th birthday on holiday in Cyprus.

Sam was about to take part in a meditation session on April 3 when a viper bit her leg. He has been in a wheelchair ever since, being released from hospital last Monday.

Travel agency TUI told the BBC it was contacting the tourist “directly” to offer its full support.

West, who is on vacation with his wife, Kate, said he is waiting to hear from his insurance company about when he will return home.

“My leg was on fire”

As she stated speaking to the BBC, a viper, 1.5 meters long, bit her just as she was preparing to start the meditation class at the hotel where she was staying. “Before I could even react, he bit me right above my left ankle. I started shaking the snake, shouting that it had just bitten me! My leg was burning, the pain was instantaneous!” described.

TUI staff and others rushed to help, and she was rushed to the emergency room, where a doctor told her she needed an antidote to the poison.

After four days in intensive care and one more in a simple unit, West was discharged, on medication. He said he was paying €310 a night for a disabled access room.

At the same time, he added that the hotel has cordoned off part of the area where the meditation classes were held after the incident and has called in pest control teams twice.
