A score of artists organize a solidarity exhibition on the pandemic in five Extremadura cities

Cáceres, Badajoz, Mérida, Plasencia and Malpartida de Cáceres host this project called Cov Arte CÁCERES, 17 (EUROPA PRESS)

A total of 19 artists from various disciplines have launched the Cov Arte project through which an exhibition of their works has been organized in five Extremaduran cities simultaneously, in which they invite to reflect on the events that are happening to consequence of the coronavirus pandemic. The funds raised from the sale of the works will go to the Extremadura Food Bank.

The cities where his works can be seen are Cáceres, in the Aquario cafeteria and the Astoria building’s shopping area; in Plasencia, downtown shopping area and Sol street; in Mérida in establishments on Santa Eulalia Street; in Malpartida de Cáceres, in the House of Culture, and in Badajoz in a place that has yet to be specified.

The idea for this collective exhibition arose in full confinement and the artists Esther García, José M. Díez, Teto González, Domingo Vera, Gloria Morán Mayo, Víctor González Barrera, Nacho Lobato, Jesús David, Carmen Fernández Jacob, Isabel Rocha participate in it. , Tete Alejandre, Jairo Jiménez, María Nieves Martín, Carmen Palop, Antonio Márquez, Rosana Soriano, Ana Hernández De San Pedro, Luis Rosado and Carmina Santos.

The works presented are related to the pandemic situation and reflect the feelings of the artists during the period of confinement. “We want to pay tribute to the deceased and to the families who have had and have to face this pain in such a discouraging situation,” said the coordinator of the show, Carmina Santos, who has dedicated this work to “all professionals who they work actively, proactively and effectively “against Covid-19. In addition, with the idea of ​​not congregating the public in closed spaces when visiting the exhibition, a telematic version has been designed with the creation of a blog in which this initiative is presented. The Cov Arte exhibition also proposes printed art mounted on foam board to be installed in shop windows in cities that want to collaborate with the project.

Thus, the collaborating establishments will display the printed work in their windows so that the message easily reaches the public in a totally safe way and, incidentally, contributes to promoting the activity of local commerce, so affected by the economic crisis derived from the pandemic .

The exhibition is interactive, since each printed work is accompanied by a QR code that leads to discovering the iconography of the work presented by the artist himself: with short videos of one or two minutes, technical sheets, etc.

On the other hand, as the objective of this action is to be able to help those people and families who are living with economic difficulties, the original works that are acquired will serve to raise funds for the Food Bank of Extremadura. The graphic prints of the different works are also for sale from a price of 20 euros.
