A Puerto Rican is on her way to be a state representative in Georgia

Washington D. C.The Puerto Rican Zulma López – a lawyer specialized in immigration matters-, is on the way to being a state representative in Georgia after beating the incumbent Michele Henson in a second round that took place on Tuesday.

According to the data published on the Georgia State Department page, Lopez obtained 54.37% of the votes cast in DeKalb County’s 86th District, compared to 45.63% for Rep. Henson.

Representative Henson has been in office for three decades.

Because there is no Republican candidate in November, López is virtually guaranteed his election.

The Puerto Rican López is a product of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), where he completed his baccalaureate and his juris doctor of Law.
