A project of 77 social housing units at the Sisters of the Holy Rosary

Serviloge management confirms that it will submit a request for funding under the Rapid Housing Creation Initiative (ICRL) for the construction of 77 new social housing units in the east wing of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Saint-Rosaire in Rimouski.

This project aims to create new social housing units for households currently on standby with the Rimouski-Neigette Housing Office. The objective of this first phase of requalification of the Mother House is to convert the east wing of the Mother House into a housing project intended primarily for a clientele of elderly people with needs for home support services.

The ICRL allows non-profit organizations to submit funding requests to meet urgent housing needs for vulnerable clienteles through the rapid construction of affordable housing.

Capital contributions

The Initiative provides capital contributions, after signing a funding agreement with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CHS), in two separate streams to accelerate the production of affordable housing. As the ICRL was announced on October 27, 2020, CMHC is accepting applications until December 31, 2020. Serviloge therefore intends to submit a request to meet the urgent housing needs for people awaiting social housing with the OHRN.

Patrimony

Serviloge is also requesting the participation of the Société rimouskoise du Patrimoine to validate the nature and scope of the interventions of the requalification project, for the sake of heritage preservation and social acceptability. The Mother House being an infrastructure of importance in terms of the history and memories of the community, the requalification interventions are planned with a view to sustainability and respect for the existing elements that make the building uniqueness and that bear the memory of the work of the Congregation.

The Congregation also actively participates in the advancement and development of this project, wishing to be able to ensure a future and a usefulness for this important infrastructure, while respecting the values and the mission that it has carried over the last century. .
