The primary school of the private Catholic school group Fromente-Saint-François is now closed in Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d’Or. A teacher has tested positive for Covid-19 according to our information. The results were received yesterday, Tuesday September 1st.

Since then, all children have been asked to stay at home.

The teacher had been showing symptoms, including fever, since last weekend. This is why as a precaution, she was not present during the pre-re-entry on Monday. She was however present on Friday during a meeting with adult colleagues, before taking her test. But during this meeting, the barrier gestures would have been respected according to our sources.

The 294 students and their 14 teachers, as well as around ten staff, must henceforth stay at home, at least for 2 weeks. All adults are going to be tested as a precaution tomorrow and another test will be held next week. As for children, distance education should be organized from Thursday.

Contacted, the director of the Association of Parents of Free Education Students, APEL, Patrick Schartz, also a parent of a student, is keen to first support the convalescent teacher.

Above all, he supports the decisions of the director of the establishment: “These decisions are common sense. It is a situation that does not delight us of course, but the management has our full support.“

He is surprised by the circulation of a text among a few parents who have come up against this closure decision, who fear a lack of education for their children. Calls to demonstrate in the coming days are circulating in this direction.
