An AN-26 aircraft with 28 people has disappeared on the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Tuesday.
The plane, which was on its way from the administrative center of Kamchatka region Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to the village of Palana in the north of the peninsula, lost contact with the traffic controller during the flight, the ministry revealed.
The ministry said search and rescue teams had been sent to the possible emergency site.
There were 22 passengers and six crew members on board.
The Interfax news agency, referring to the local meteorological service, reports that the region has been cloudy.
