A number of Indonesian OTGs get Covid-19 which attacks HIV-like antibodies

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Professor of Molecular Biology at Airlangga University (Unair) Surabaya, Chaerul Anwar Nidom stated that there were a number of people without symptoms (OTG) infected corona virus (Covid-19) in RI which caused the ADE (Antibody-dependent enhancement) phenomenon.

“I can’t say how many, but there are. That’s what OTG is,” said Nidom in an interview with CNN Indonesia TV, Wednesday (16/9).

Nidom explained that ADE is a viral phenomenon that attacks antibodies and weakens the immune system to infect host cells. The potential for the occurrence of ADE phenomena can be seen from certain patterns of the viral DNA / RNA arrangement.

Nidom explained that the new corona virus that has ADE has effects such as those in SARS, MERS, dengue fever, HIV, Ebola, and Zika. He said the virus with ADE can fight antibodies that are in the body.

He said the new coronavirus that has ADE does not target ACE2 (Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2) which is present in the respiratory tract as an entry point, but instead leads to the receptors on the macrophages.

Macrophages are producers of the body’s immune response. If it enters, the virus will destroy macrophages.

“If the covid virus enters there, the victim will not immediately suffer, but will become chronic for a long time, like what happened to HIV because the victim’s immune system will be disrupted by the deflection,” he said.

Furthermore, Nidom admitted that his party was researching the cycle threshold (Ct) between 20 and 30 to find out the viral load of the corona virus due to ADE. It is hoped that the research will help medical personnel determine whether the viral load in patients is still high or low.

“So there are some who repeat it and look healthy, but the virus is still high. We are worried that changes have occurred,” said Nidom.

On the other hand, Nidom appealed to the perpetrators of clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia to pay attention to the potential dangers of the ADE phenomenon in the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus. He worries a vaccine could pose even more harm if the findings are not heeded.

“This is what we need to convey to those who are working on a vaccine, please observe the things related to changes in this virus,” he said.

Nidom added that the new corona virus which has ADE has the potential to be immune from vaccines. Although there is evidence that becomes a reference, he said pre-clinical researchers from China said the vaccine did not affect ADE in Makaka animals.

“But now it is entering humans. What about clinical trials I and II? Right there there are antibodies produced by the volunteers,” said Nidom.

Moreover, he questioned whether the antibodies in human clinical trials currently underway produce ADE or not.

“People need to know, not to cause more risky problems and then be shocked,” he said.
