And the national team confirmed, in a tweet on Wednesday, that “after confirming the stability of Al-Shahrani’s condition and following him up with the national team’s medical staff, it was decided that he would return home for his daily medical checkup.”

For his part, journalist and sportscaster Fahd Al-Dous said on Twitter: “You are alone, O kidnapper of hearts. The national team has lost you, and our hearts have not lost you, who pray to God to hasten your recovery and go back to the stadiums.” He attached this tweet with a video of Al-Shahrani thanking the medical personnel who followed up on his condition.

After his injury, Al-Shahrani made appearances from Hamad Medical City, before being transferred to Saudi Arabia, after the tough clash with his teammate, Al-Akhdar goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Owais, and reassured the audience on his health, congratulating the Saudi team for winning the match against Argentina.

And on Wednesday, Mexico scored two goals in five minutes early in the second half to beat Saudi Arabia 2-1, but the two teams were eliminated from the group stage of the FIFA World Cup together.
