Now it’s official: One of Netflix’s most watched movies will have a sequel.
The sequel to “The Old Guard” – one of Netflix’s most watched original movies – is finally starting to move. Deadline recently reported that the film will have a new director.
Victoria Mahoney takes over the register after Gina Prince-Bythewood, who is busy with other projects and chose to stand over.
Mahoney has some habit from big movies. She assisted JJ Abrams as a second unit director on “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. This made her the first woman to direct a Star Wars movie, which has undeniably opened some doors and made her coveted.
It is also clear that all actors return. In addition to Charlize Theron, we get to see KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor again in their respective roles.
The action / fantasy film “The Old Guard”, about a secret group of immortal soldiers, was released in the summer of 2020 and was seen within four weeks by as many as 78 million viewers.
