A dramatic accident occurred this Saturday around 4 p.m. on the road between Beauraing and Pondrôme. Several people are injured.
Late Saturday afternoon, an accident involving three vehicles took place outside Beauraing. On the national 40, towards Pondrôme.
A chain collision has occurred. The first vehicle suddenly slowed down. Behind, a second car did not have time to react and struck the vehicle practically stationary. The driver, however, attempted an avoidance maneuver by moving onto the opposite lane. Unfortunately, a vehicle was arriving in the opposite direction. The head-on collision was inevitable. The shock was very violent.
In the second car was a mom and baby. Both are very seriously injured. The baby had to be resuscitated several times before being transported by helicopter to the CHU de Liège. The mother was taken to Mont-Godinne. Just like the driver of the car opposite who finished his journey in the ditch.
Since the accident, the national 40 has been closed in both directions from the bottom of rue de Bouillon (Beauraing) to the Tilleul crossroads (Pondrôme). Deviations are in place. People coming from Beauraing wishing to go up to Pondrôme are diverted towards the road to Wancennes.
