Friday in Dijon, a mother and daughter were indicted for “murders and attempted murder of a minor under 15, by ascendant”. Last weekend, the girl brought an emergency bag in which were two babies, one of whom was dead.
The facts, which date back to last weekend, led to the opening of a judicial investigation by the Dijon (Côte-d’Or) prosecutor’s office. A 20-year-old woman, report our colleagues from France Bleu Bourgogne, had called an ambulance. It was after arriving at the emergency room that the young woman explained that she had a miscarriage. She was carrying a bag in which were found two babies born prematurely, after 27 weeks of pregnancy.

One of these babies was already dead. The other was placed in intensive care and, according to the latest news, is still alive. Saturday, the prosecutor’s office of Dijon indicated that this second child “Was the subject of an emergency placement by the prosecution”.

Suspecting a possible infanticide case, the authorities decided to indict the babies’ mother and grandmother for “murders and attempted murders on a minor under 15, by ascendant”. On the same day, the two defendants were imprisoned at the Dijon prison. According to information collected by France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, no act of direct violence was allegedly committed on children. The death of one of them and the worrying state of health of the other would therefore result from a deprivation of care.
