Minecraft is one of those games where the modding community is very active. The sites dedicated to the game and the forums of enthusiasts are full of a multitude of mods. One of them allows you to emulate Windows 95 and therefore play Doom on a virtual PC.

Since its release in 2011, Mojang’s game has gained a reputation for allowing gamers to let their creativity run free. All sandbox games do this, but Minecraft is one of those for whom the community is most loyal. Players create various and varied mods that serve to improve the game experience, contribute content, or simply explore new possibilities. This is the case of the mod VM Computers.
Playing Doom in Minecraft isn’t useful, but it’s awesome
A player posted a demonstration video of this mod on Minecraft subreddit. He is seen moving his player around inside his block house to a computer. Doom is already launched and he just has to left click for controls are passed back to the virtual machine and not to Minecraft. The version of the game he is using is 1.15.2. The major downside of the VM Computers mod is that the sound is still not supported. Not easy to dive into Doom without enjoying the iconic soundtrack that accompanies it.
In order to be able to play Doom, the player emulated Windows 95 operating system. Any app other than Doom could have been run for demonstration, but the game has become something of a benchmark. Internet users always use Doom when trying to run applications on improbable machines. For example, a young American played Doom on a McDonald’s cash register.
Moreover, modders sometimes do the opposite, that is to say, they integrate a game into Doom. Recently, a player has recreated Punch-Out !! of the NES in DOOM II on PC. Finally, another example of an awesome mod created for Minecraft is a smooth and playable version of Metroid Fusion that took 7 years of work.
