A man from Cordoba captured NASA’s astronomical photo of the day – Viva la radio

NASA published on its Astronomy Picture of the Day site the image that Sergio Scauso captured from his home in Villa María, Córdoba.

The protagonist is an amateur, astrophotographer and professor of astronomy at the Tecnoteca de Villa María. “On August 9 at dawn there was an event and I prepared my equipment at 4.45,” he detailed in dialogue with Chain 3.

Although in principle the objective was to make a video slow motion (slow motion effect) of the moment when Mars hides behind the Moon, a photograph published on social networks reached the US space agency.

“I took the recordings and one was of very good quality. I took a photo and had a very great impact within my close circle. But it was shared and other well-known people, who also know the subject, suggested that I send it to NASA for the astronomical photo of the day, “he said.

So much so that the US agency chose it from the material sent by other space agencies, amateurs and observatories around the world. “It was a surprise and a great joy,” she said.
