Going with her mother to Bui Thi Xuan High School to buy admission documents, Bui Minh Khoi, a student at Tam Thon Hiep Secondary School, Can Gio district, was delighted when her long-standing dream came true.
The total score Minh Khoi achieved in the last 10th grade entrance exam was 24.25 points. In which, 9 points in math, 7 points in literature and 8.25 points in English.
“I only study more math, and literature and English mainly self-study, review the exercises she assigns and solve problems. Knowing Bui Thi Xuan High School from a young age, I set a goal to pass the school. When I knew As a result, the whole family was overwhelmed with emotions” – Minh Khoi confided.
Regarding test scores, Minh Khoi slightly regretted English. “I focused on reviewing literature, so I neglected this subject, only to review it when I was close to the exam. If I allocate time appropriately, perhaps the English subject will have a higher score” – Khoi said.
“This is my favorite school even though it’s quite far away. However, fortunately, my grandmother’s house is nearby, my father works in District 1, so my family supports my decision. During 3 years of studying, I will stay at my grandmother’s house to facilitate learning,” Minh Khoi’s mother said and said that with a good school, she hopes that her child will have many experiences and opportunities to develop himself.

This year Bui Thi Xuan High School recruited 723 10th graders with 15 regular classes and 2 integrated classes.
According to Huynh Thanh Phu, the school’s principal, the school year 2023-2024 is the second year of continuing to implement the new general education program at the high school level with grade 11.
With the new program, 10th graders will study 8 compulsory subjects and activities. Besides, they also study elective subjects and thematic clusters.

Bui Thi Xuan High School organizes 7 subject combinations for students to choose from. Specifically, block A (physics, chemistry, geography, news), block A (physics, chemistry, biology, news), block B (chemistry, biology, geography, news), block A1 (physics, chemistry, tin, business education economic-legal), block A1 (physics, chemistry, information, technology), block D (physics, birth, geography, information), block D (physics, geography, information, technology).
According to Mr. Phu, because music and art teachers cannot be recruited, the school cannot organize these subjects.
“Parents do not rush to buy textbooks because there will be unused books. Parents, please wait for the homeroom teacher to disseminate, buy only the necessary books to use. Nowadays, with the development of technology, students can learn everywhere, no longer relying much on textbooks,” said Mr. Phu.
School leaders also said that parents and students should carefully consider the selection of subject combinations, avoiding changes in the middle because it will be difficult for them to supplement their knowledge.
