A major leisure complex will open on Route de Fumel

Between the Villeneuvois health center and the McDonalds on the route de Fumel, a “Vertigo Park” leisure complex will open its doors in the summer of 2023. The future building of more than 4,000 m2 will house, among other things, a bowling alley and a “laser game”.

The 11,000 m2 plot of land located on Route de Fumel, in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, between the Villeneuvois Health Center and the McDonalds, will soon no longer be a field overrun with hemlock and weeds. Behind the grove, visible from the parking lot of the pharmacy, a building permit indicates the future location of a commercial building. On this plot of land, an imposing leisure complex called “Vertigo Park” will open in the summer of 2023.

“Between 30 and 35 people hired”

In this 4,300 m2 structure, whose construction work will begin next October, it is planned to install a 14-lane bowling alley; a “trampoline park” of 1,000 m2 and 70 trampolines; a “laser tag”; a playground for children; a room with billiards; an arcade games room; a large reception room for birthday parties; a bar/beer cellar “la Cervoiserie”; and an Italian specialty food court called “Signorizza”. The building will be accompanied on delivery by a car park with more than 160 parking spaces.

A project led by three brothers from Libourne (Gironde) – Thomas, Florent and Romain Vergnes – the “Vertigo Park” in Villeneuve will be their company’s fourth leisure complex. “We have already opened three, in Libourne, Angoulème and Cognac, specifies Florent Vergnes, one of the three bosses of the “Vertigo” company. The “Vertigo Park” in Villeneuve-sur-Lot is the latest and the largest of the four. In all, we will make an investment of 5 million euros. When it is operational, in the summer of 2023, we will hire between 30 and 35 people. The land, which will belonged to the hospital, will officially be sold to us in August and we will start the construction site in the fall of 2022. We have six months of work and four or five months devoted to fitting out the interior.

If the three Girondin brothers chose Villeneuve-sur-Lot to set up their “Vertigo Park”, it is no coincidence. “We are specifically targeting medium-sized towns with high potential, explains Florent Vergnes. There, we have a large population pool with Villeneuvois. And, thanks to our geographical location, we will also be able to reach Fumélois. We also choose municipalities where we have no competition. Villeneuve met all our criteria. In addition, we have been very well supported for two years by the town hall and the community of municipalities to bring this project to fruition (see opposite). collaboration with local players is also one of the reasons that reassured us in our choice of Villeneuvois.”

“A real request from Villeneuvois”

Guillaume Lepers, the mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and president of Greater Villeneuvois, has been an early supporter of the “Vertigo Park” project on the Fumel road. “It’s a project that we really wanted to develop in Villeneuve, confides the city councilor. There is a real demand from Villeneuvois, and in particular from our youth. We met the Vergnes brothers about a year and a half ago. We then accompanied them to find land. And even during the Covid-19, we continued to work with them. This is a project that is close to my heart because there is a real need for this type of service, and not just for Villeneuve residents. There will soon be a new place to have fun in Villeneuve. It is also an additional source of attractiveness for our municipality.”
