a little animated session in the absence of Wall Street

(CercleFinance.com) – The Paris Bourse should try to rise again on Monday at the opening, encouraged by the progression of Asian stock markets in a market which looks sluggish in the absence of Wall Street , closed for ‘Presidents Day’.

At around 8:15 am, the ‘future’ contract on the CAC 40 index – February delivery – rose 42.5 points to 5,745 points, announcing a marked increase in the start of the session.

Deprived of factors likely to allow it to continue its bullish streak at the start of the year, the Paris market has been consolidating horizontally for a little over a week.

After breaking through its resistance of 5700 points on Friday afternoon, the ACC had ended Friday’s session above this symbolic threshold, at 5703 points (+ 0.6%). His gains over the past week reached 0.5%.

Despite these procrastination, technical analysts assure that the upside potential of the markets is not exhausted, a forecast which seems to be confirmed by the 1.9% rise in the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday for the first session of the week.

In Asia as on Wall Street, investors continue to opt for purchasing operations in a climate of optimism surrounding the monetary policies of central banks during this phase of recovery and with the prospect of the imminent adoption of the stimulus plan of Joe Biden.

US equity markets continued to advance on Friday, after a session marked by a University of Michigan confidence index below expectations.

The earnings season is now drawing to a close in the United States, where three-quarters of the companies in the S&P 500 index have presented their fourth quarter accounts.

The week promises to be busier in terms of macroeconomics, with the publication tomorrow of the ZEW index of German investor sentiment and the publication on Friday of the latest PMI activity indices.

The publication on Wednesday of the minutes of the last meeting of the US Federal Reserve will provide more information on the state of the institution’s thinking regarding its asset buybacks.

According to economists, financial conditions should remain favorable for many more months to come.
