A limousine is bullshit, take public transport, urges Prague City Hall. He gets rid of two Superbs

The municipal district of Prague has decided to get rid of two Škoda Superb cars, saying that they are not being used enough, and in addition, it has been heard that operating a limousine is nonsense and officials should use other means of transport, especially public transport.

The council of the Prague 5 district approved the sale of two Škoda Superb cars owned by the city, which allegedly had not been used for a long time. It is also supposed to be another of the planned austerity measures that the current coalition has been making since taking over the leadership of the town hall.

“To be regularly driven around Prague, especially when you live in the same city district where you work, is ridiculous. The two Škoda Superbs intended for sale are unnecessary and, in terms of operating costs, also economically disadvantageous. In addition, these cars were often used more for the personal trips of councilors rather than actual work trips,” says the chairman of the finance committee, Karel Bauer (Pirates).

“I consider this a clear signal that we want to do things differently. It really doesn’t seem normal to me that an urban part of the metropolis with one of the best public transport systems in the world has such a large fleet,” adds Bauer.

The office also reminds that the sale of two cars will ensure a contribution to the city coffers in the amount of at least 350,000 crowns, the minimum value of the cars in this amount was allegedly set by the contracted car service. However, the town hall did not disclose which Superb model it has on file and what condition it is in, how old it is and how many kilometers it has.

Selling cars is not an isolated decision. The Council of the Municipal District of Prague 5 is carrying out a series of austerity measures. For example, it has reduced the financial sums reserved for advisers, snacks or mobile phones, and informs that it plans to make further savings.
