A license for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages has been issued to Latvijas pasts

“Latvijas pasts” has been issued an open-ended license for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages, according to “Firmas.lv” information.

The license was issued on June 20.

Inga Freiberga, Director of the Retail Department of Latvijas pasta, explained that during the declared emergency situation, when a large part of the public stayed at home, due to the restriction of Covid19, the possibility of providing food delivery to customers at home was considered in cooperation with one of the food retailers.

She noted that it was anticipated that such customer food orders might also include alcoholic beverages. For this reason, the formation of a license was started.

“Currently, the existence of the license has completely lost its relevance, and Latvijas pasts does not intend to engage in the supply of alcoholic beverages in any way,” said Freiberga.

“Latvijas pasts” ensures the availability of postal services in Latvia, maintaining more than 600 postal service points. The main function of the company is the provision of the universal postal service, in addition to providing commercial transportation, express mail, payment, press, retail and philatelic services. Latvijas pasts is a fully state-owned company with more than 4,000 employees.
