The “Swiss Press Photographers Association (SSPV-ASPP)” was founded in 1948 and is one of the recognized professional and employee associations. In more than seven decades, not only has photography changed enormously from a technical point of view, but also the job description of press photographers. Video has been added and the demand for moving images in journalism has resulted in a change of name for the association, an updated logo and a new appearance.
The “Swiss press photographers and video journalists (spv.ch)”, as the association calls itself today, has around 50 members, including many who have been with us for decades. On the other hand, many new members have also been added. “Yesterday we were able to hold our general assembly at the Fotostiftung Winterthur,” says SPV secretary Hans Peter Jost, “and I was proud to announce the names of ten new members. Not only is the interest in an established professional association greater than ever today, but also the need for personal contact with professional colleagues. “
In order to introduce some members of the association and to draw attention to the existence of this association with a “prospectus”, the SPV yesterday presented a newspaper edition in which 29 of the around 50 members of the association are presented on a double page in portfolio 21 each. Who made the selection and how? We wanted to know from Hans Peter Jost. “It’s not a secret. According to our graphic concept, 29 double pages were available. Then we informed our members about the project, and when the number of feedback was reached, the concept of the content was also in place. The choice of photos was up to the photographers themselves, and we strictly adhered to an alphabetical order in the order »informs Hans Peter Jost.
