A “hyperloop” to link New York to Washington in 30 minutes

There is no end to a chain of futuristic projects. After a Tesla convertible was put into orbit in early February, Elon Musk announced that he had obtained a building permit for his tunnel project between Washington DC and New York. This system, which consists of capsules propelled at very high speed in a tunnel under low pressure, would connect the two cities in less than 30 minutes (compared to around 4 hours today by train or car).

However, the project is still in its infancy, since the permit in question will only allow the digging of a tunnel on well-defined land and cannot be exploited in the near future. This project will mainly serve to demonstrate the feasibility of the “Hyperloop”. Electric cars, renewable energies, revolutionary transport system, space exploration: the future seems to belong to the ambitious entrepreneur.
