On the site of an unregulated dump on the road from Kuklen to the village of Rouen, it will bloom honey forest. The initiative belongs to the municipality Puppet and will be realized during the week of the forest from April 1st to 7th. This is the first in a series of activities for a greener future of the municipality, including
the improvement not only of illegal dumps, but also the creation of more green areas on the territory.
The old dump on the road to Rouen, on an area of 3 acres, becomes home to over 300 honey tree and plant species, such as acacia, linden, lilac, chalesia, chitalpa, chestnut, lavender and others. The meadow will be grassed with a honey mix of flower and grass species.
Curiously, to be healthy, bees, like humans, need a variety of food and especially a variety of pollen. When they collect mostly from one pollen source, there is a lack of variety in the diet and the growing bee larvae do not develop fully.
Covered gazebos will be placed in the future grove for the greater convenience of the residents and guests of Kuklen.
It is expected that the refined place will become one of the favorite green corners for walking and relaxing outside the city everyday life.
“Besides the indisputable benefit of eliminating unregulated landfills and improving more green spaces, our initiative also aims to add value. For children to love nature and learn more about bees and their importance to the ecosystem.” emphasized Maria Belcheva. The idea is that the new forest of Kuklen, which is about to take shape, will be a place for “green” initiatives and events in the future.
